Orlando Family Stage made an unprecedented move to offer all tickets to the run of Locomotion, the Play by Jacqueline Woodson for free to Orlando audiences. Read a statement from Artistic Director, Jeff Revels, below.
“Some shows arrive on our stages with splashy titles and well-known source material. Others are less known and do not come with a built-in audience waiting for the curtain to open. Our next show, Locomotion, The Play, is one of those shows.
We believe Locomotion tells a relevant and educational story. We think this show is so important that we want to remove all barriers to people seeing it. In a tense and tough world, we want to take an unprecedented step, one that is a first for our theater and, to our knowledge, our community. Orlando Family Stage has been fortunate through careful management, quick pivoting, community support, and loyal patrons, even through the pandemic. As a result, for the first time ever, we are making the entire run of public performances for Locomotion, The Play absolutely free.
As we are in the beginning of our 20th season, it feels like the right time to open our doors to an even wider audience. Every family/adult/child who wants to join us in our theater can do so at no expense. This show is best suited for 4th grade and up. This initiative joins the many other ways we give back and invest in making our community a great one.”
