Professional Development In Arts Integration

For K-12 Grade Teachers    –     3 hours    –    (30 teacher maximum)

Want to make your story time more effective and interactive? This session focuses on introducing early childhood educators with research-based arts integrated strategies and techniques that can be easily implemented into their classrooms. This program aims to provide teachers with the resources to help their students become more engaged during story time, develop important pre-literacy skills (ex: vocabulary development/retention), as well as build teacher confidence and efficacy using arts integration.

$500 per session (30 teachers maximum)

These immersive arts experiences are incredible opportunities to dive deeply into new techniques and are developed specifically for the show and the needs of the group! These full day experiences include:

  • See the work in action through
    • Arts Integration: Observe a model lesson with a class of students
    • Arts Enhancement: Participate in a backstage tour or talk-back
  • Participate in a professional learning workshop
  • Includes lunch!

Teaching Strategy Workshops

For Early Childhood through 2nd Grade Teachers    –     1.5 hour    –     $150 per workshop (30 teacher maximum)

  • Individual strategies offer immediately applicable teaching tools to your toolbox that lead to transformative practice, easily differentiated across diverse reading levels and ability.
  • These workshops focus on skills related to Reading (LAFS.K-5.RL).
  • All workshops are applicable for teachers in ESE classrooms as well.

This workshop explores the world of pantomime. Join us as we explore how we can create imaginary objects and experiences, while developing vocabulary skills at the same time.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, imagine how many words are in an embodied image? Join us in this physical workshop in which we explore how our bodies and faces can create still images that demonstrate vocabulary words from emotions to objects.

This workshop invites participants to bring environments to life using sound. Join us in bringing to life story worlds from farms to forests!

Step out of your teacher hat and into that of your favorite character! Bringing familiar characters to life in your classroom is a great way for students to problem solve, support others, and write their own endings to familiar stories.

Professional Development in Arts Enhancement

For Arts Teachers grades K-12    –     3 hours    –     $500 per seminar (30 teacher maximum)

From microphones to mixing consoles, amplify your skills as a sound engineer through this hands-on workshop in the world of sound systems. No matter your space, equipment, or experience, the concepts provided in this workshop will help you use and troubleshoot the audio for your next play, musical, assembly, or concert. Work with microphones for actors and instruments, explore sound components that support audiences and performers, and improve your knowledge of the parts and purposes of sound systems. Become the mix master you have always wanted to be!

Auditions are an exciting part of the production process but can be equally as scary if the actor OR the production team isn’t prepared. Help give your students the tools they need to walk into any audition room feeling confident and prepared. Consider ways to structure your auditions to be efficient and safe spaces. From performance material, paperwork, etiquette, and stress management, discover the tools you need to inspire your students to love auditioning!

Want to learn how to create effective and unique costumes on a budget? This workshop is designed to get participants thinking about different ways an article of clothing, fabric, or other found objects can be  turned  into a costume using simple budget-friendly (and accessible) materials! Participants in this workshop will explore basic sewing techniques, learn how to embellish with appliques and trims, understand the “do’s and don’ts” for fabric adhesives, and review the basics of painting, dying, and distressing. Learn to get creative in the world of costuming without breaking the bank!

Want to learn creative ways to create visual impact on stage while staying on budget? This workshop provides inspiration and ideas, along with hands-on practical application in order to explore the endless lighting possibilities that can be created through lightboxes. Participants in this workshop will understand how lightboxes can be effective visual and learning tools, see various examples used in OFS productions, create their own lightbox frames, install LED lights into a frame, and go through programming steps to connect lightboxes to a light console. Create the lighting design of your dreams with just a few simple steps and tools!
