Secrets of the Wizarding World

This summer we are proud to partner with the Rosen JCC!

You were caught getting into mischief by none other than Professor Snape, himself. Now you are serving detention with Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest. Oh, do not worry about all the stories you have been told; worry about the ones you have not! Strange and fantastical beasts roam these woods at night. Complete your duties and get out before dawn. We would hate for another group of students go missing…

This program is designed for all students—whether you dream of performing onstage, simply want a fun way to make new friends, or both! This class is perfect for students who want to try something new, get creative, and have a blast—whether it is their first theatre class or their fiftieth!

What You Will Learn

• How to create a character and perform with and in front of others 
• Vocabulary and skills related to the ‘actor toolbox’; body, voice, imagination, and concentration
• How to create a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end
• Learn to build and operate puppets such as; moving mouth, rod, blacklight, and/or mask
• How to share opinions about a story with classmates

What to Expect 

• Theatre games that explore the world, characters, and details of the class theme
• Engaging, interactive classes led by experienced teaching artists
• A supportive and inclusive environment designed for students to connect with each other

• Morning and afternoon assemblies led by Camp J staff
• Orlando Family Stage specialty camps do not participate in Camp J weekly field trips.
• Opportunities to share ideas and receive personalized feedback

What to Bring

• Students should bring a water bottle and a non-perishable lunch and snack each day. Please ensure all items are nut-free.
• Lunch is available for purchase for $6.50 per day at registration. Ice cream is available for purchase, except on Wednesdays. No cash is accepted. 
• All necessary class materials are provided

Extended Care

• JCC Extended Care is available Monday-Friday
  • 7am-9am: $50/ week
  • 4pm-6pm: $50/ week
  • Drop-in fee $15

Presentation Day

• Final presentations are held on the last day of class, giving students the opportunity to showcase what they learned throughout the program. Family and friends are invited to attend. Presentation times are announced on Monday of your camp week.
