Orlando Family Stage’s Young Artist in the Spotlight program celebrates the creativity of young people by showcasing artwork created in schools, organizations, and programs across Central Florida that connect directly to the themes of our kid-friendly shows. These pieces invite students to make meaningful connections to these stories through their own artistic voices, while giving our audiences a chance to enjoy their interpretations and perspectives.

For this exhibit, our Orlando Family Stage summer campers, grades K–5, brought the playful world of P.D. Eastman’s beloved story Go, Dog. Go! to life. In a hands-on session, students first explored colors in Spanish through a lively, interactive reading of the book. As they practiced their new vocabulary, they were challenged to select a favorite color and transform it into an original piece of art.

Using their own handprints as the foundation, each camper designed a one-of-a-kind “handprint dog.” They carefully chose colors, added decorations to reflect their personalities, and labeled their creations in both Spanish and English—practicing their language skills while celebrating creativity.

This collection of handprint dogs reflects not only the story’s energy and imagination, but also the individual connections of each participating young artist.

We invite you to pause and enjoy some of these colorful handprint dogs created by our students and get your tickets for Go, Dog. Go! Ve Perro ¡Ve!
