Overview

Locomotion centers on an 11-year-old boy whose life moves from tragedy to hope as he struggles with foster care after the death of his parents. Lonnie Collins Motion, nicknamed Locomotion, finds that the power of poetry provides the perfect outlet for expressing his feelings about his sister, his new life, and the fire that took his parents away. Lonnie learns how poetry can bring him closer to others and himself.

Multiple Newbery Honor, Coretta Scott King Award, and National Book Award-winning author Jacqueline Woodson adapts her novel to the stage in a production co-commissioned by Orlando Family Stage and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
