Musical Theatre: Shrektacular Swamp Songs ♫

Welcome to the swamp, where ogres sing loud, donkeys dance proud, and fairy tale friends shine just the way they are! Students explore storytelling through playful songs, big character choices, and plenty of swamp-sized imagination. Whether you are a dragon, a gingerbread cookie, or someone who never quite fit the mold, this class celebrates being bold, being different, and being you. Because in this swamp, every voice belongs!

This program is designed for all students—whether you dream of performing onstage, simply want a fun way to make new friends, or both! This class is perfect for students who want to try something new, get creative, and have a blast—whether it is their first theatre class or their fiftieth!

What You Will Learn

• Learn lyrics and choreography to perform a variety of musical numbers
• How to create and perform a character
• How to create and tell a story as an ensemble through dramatic play
• Vocabulary and skills related to the ‘actor toolbox’; body, voice, imagination, and concentration
• How to share opinions about a story with classmates

What to Expect 

• Engaging, interactive classes led by experienced teaching artists
• A supportive and inclusive environment designed for students to connect with each other
• Creative play and theatre games that explore the world, characters, and details of the class theme
• Opportunities to share ideas and receive personalized feedback

What to Bring

• Students should bring a water bottle, a non-perishable lunch, AND a snack each day. Please ensure all items are nut-free.
• All necessary class materials are provided
• Students are invited to participate in Wacky Wednesday each week! This is an optional opportunity to dress up in accordance with a class theme, which is decided upon and shared at the beginning of the week.

Extended Care

• Drop off as early as 8:30am
• Extended Care is available Monday-Friday, 4pm-5:30pm for $60 per week

Presentation Day

• Final presentation is held on the last day of class at 3pm, giving students the opportunity to showcase what they learned throughout the program. Family and friends are invited to attend.
