On September 25, 2026, Orlando Family Stage is joining Give Like Dolly Day, a day inspired by Dolly Parton’s commitment to children, books, and literacy.
Here in Central Florida, we are celebrating with one big goal:
1,000 books for 1,000 young readers.
Your gift will help provide free books to children in coordination with the Florida Children’s Book Festival.
A Legacy of Giving
Give Like Dolly Day was created by The Dollywood Foundation as a national day of giving on September 25, inviting people and organizations across the country to create opportunities for children in their own communities.
Dolly Parton’s legacy reaches far beyond music and the stage. Over decades, she used her success to support children, education, literacy, health, disaster recovery, and families in need.
She founded The Dollywood Foundation in 1988 and launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 1995, inspired by her father, who could not read or write. What began as a local book-gifting program grew into an international movement reaching millions of young readers.
One month after Dolly’s death on August 25, 2026, Give Like Dolly Day offers a meaningful way to carry that generosity forward.
For Orlando Family Stage, that means helping more young people discover the power of books, stories, and imagination.
Open the Door to More Stories
On February 20, the Florida Children’s Book Festival will fill Orlando Family Stage with authors, illustrators, performances, conversations, and young readers discovering what comes next.
The festival is free and open to the community. With your help, 1,000 children can leave with something that keeps the experience going: a book of their own.
That commitment to access extends throughout our work.
Through No Empty Seat, Family Stage helps remove financial barriers that can keep children, families, and schools from experiencing professional live theatre. Free tickets help more young people take a seat in the audience, encounter a new story, and discover a world that may not have been open to them before.
