The bayou is buzzing! Tiana and everyone’s favorite Cajun firefly, Ray, know every glowing corner of the bayou, and tonight they are throwing the biggest bayou boogie around! Create your own glowing firefly puppet, meet unforgettable friends, and let the good times roll as you discover the joy of musical theatre one bayou boogie at a time.

This program is designed for all students, whether you dream of performing onstage, simply want a fun way to make new friends, or both! From first-timers to seasoned performers, everyone is welcome to try something new, get creative, and have a blast.

What You Will Learn

  • Learn to build and operate puppets such as; moving mouth, rod, blacklight, and/or mask
  • How to create a character and perform with and in front of others 
  • Learn lyrics and choreography to perform a musical number
  • Vocabulary and skills related to the ‘actor toolbox’; body, voice, imagination, and concentration
  • How to share opinions about a story with classmates

What to Expect 

  • Engaging, interactive classes led by experienced teaching artists
  • A supportive and inclusive environment designed for students to connect with each other
  • Creative play and theatre games that explore the world, characters, and details of the class theme
  • Opportunities to share ideas and receive personalized feedback

What to Bring

  • Students should bring a water bottle and a nut-free snack each day. 

Presentation Day

  • Final presentations are held on the last day of class, giving students the opportunity to showcase what they learned throughout the program. Family and friends are invited to attend, Wednesday, November 18th, 11:30am.
