The Finest in Family Theater
Orlando Family Stage’s Young Artist in the Spotlight is a program that features work generated by visual art classes in schools and organizations within Central Florida that tie to the theme of the current production. Young people are encouraged to connect with our shows and stories by creating unique visual art pieces that are put on display for all patrons to enjoy!
This year Orlando Family Stage partnered with ArtReach Orlando, a visual arts nonprofit organization dedicated to exploring the link between art, social justice, and the healing process. Projects are designed to provide youth with self-expression and the ability to explore issues, while also creating personal solutions that develop their sense of self-worth and emotional resilience. In preparation to see the show Lilly and the Pirates, ArtReach Orlando worked alongside students from their “Artists in WonderStudio”, a Saturday art class series, designed to introduce elementary and middle school students to contemporary art through inquiry-based learning, introduction to digital artist tools, hands-on studio art experiences, and interactions with professional artists. Inspired by the themes of Lilly and the Pirates, students explored mixed-media techniques to create works of art celebrating nautical art, books, and adventure stories.
Please enjoy this artwork created by these students!
