Quit Boundin’ around and join us to create and perform some of your favorite Pixar shorts through the art of puppetry. This performance is really For the Birds. If your friends and family would Lava to see you perform, they can join us for our final presentation.
This program is designed for all students—whether you dream of performing onstage, simply want a fun way to make new friends, or both! This class is perfect for students who want to try something new, get creative, and have a blast—whether it is their first theatre class or their fiftieth!
What You Will Learn
- Learn to build and operate 2 types of puppets such as; moving mouth, rod, blacklight, and/or mask
- To create and work with environmental, scenic, or lighting elements that support the puppetry
- Vocabulary and skills related to the ‘actor toolbox’; body, voice, imagination, and concentration
What to Expect
- Students will build puppets, paint set pieces, and stage scenes with their puppets set to music
- A combination of rehearsals, theatre games, and acting exercises
- Engaging, interactive classes with led by experienced teaching artists
- Supportive and inclusive environment designed for students to connect with each other
- Opportunities to share ideas and receive personalized feedback
What to Bring
- Students should bring a water bottle, a non-perishable lunch, and a snack. Please ensure all food items are nut-free
- It is recommended that students wear ‘paint-clothes’ Monday-Friday, AKA clothes that can get messy
- Dark clothes are recommended for the presentation on Friday
Extended Care
- Extended Care is available Mondays-Fridays, 7:30am-9am and 4pm- 5:30pm for $50 per week
Presentation Day
- A culminating final presentation for friends and family on the last day of class, March 21, time 3:30pm at Orlando Family Stage.
