If you thought elementary school was a bad dream, middle school is a nightmare. Especially when your school is… at home. Yep, that’s right; we‘re homeschoolers. Join us to write and perform scenes and stories to ensure you have all the rules and guidelines to survive the next three years! Friends and Family are invited to a final presentation on the last day of class to see if you made it out… alive.

This program is designed for students who want to perform! Performance Workshops emphasize both the journey and the artist. Each actor receives a role in the show, immerses themselves in the rehearsal process, and explores character development through the actor’s toolbox. These fun and engaging productions offer a unique opportunity to build confidence, forge lasting friendships, and deepen your understanding of theatre!

What You Will Learn

  • The basics of playwriting and character development as you devise original scenes and monologues
  • A combination of rehearsals, theatre games, and acting exercises
  • Lines, staging, rehearsal and performance etiquette for a 20-30 minute presentation
  • Collaboration as you work with others to create productions and solve challenges
  • Relevant, age-appropriate theatre vocabulary
  • Skills related to the ‘actor toolbox’ of the body, voice, imagination, and concentration

What to Expect

  • The first few weeks of class will be collaborative devising and developing characters and ideas. Blocking rehearsals begin once the piece is written
  • Engaging, interactive classes led by experienced teaching artists
  • A supportive and inclusive environment designed for students to connect with each other
  • Opportunities to share ideas and receive personalized feedback

What to Bring

  •  Students should bring a water bottle and a nut-free snack

Presentation Day

  • Final performance is March 12, 11:30am at Orlando Family Stage
